Optimal temperature during storage: 2-5° C; this will limit the growth through cooling

    • Store the hyacinth in clean water. Refresh the water every 2 days.
    • For use in bouquets, “pre-water” the hyacinth.
    • For use in a bouquet with oasis, make a hole in the oasis using for instance a corer
    • Do not remove the bottom of the bulb. This bottom stimulates the water absorption, and thus the blossom. Should you remove the bottom of the bulb, the conservation period is shortened because the water absorption reduces, and the stems become soft.
Additional advantage by leaving the bottom on is that this will increase the length of the stems.
    • Rinse the stems thoroughly before putting the flowers in the water
    • If the hyacinth is used in a mixed bouquet, please advise your customer to refresh the water every 2 days

For the customer

  • Use a clean vase, and refresh the water every 2 days
  • Use a high vase. Hyacinths continue to grow and the flowers become heavier as they blossom. A high vase will support the flowers.
  • Do not remove the bottom of the bulb. This bottom stimulates the water absorption, and thus the blossom. Also, the flowers will develop their colour better. Should you remove the bottom of the bulb, the conservation period reduces. In addition the scent will be less overwhelming.
  • Rinse the stems thoroughly before putting the flowers in the water
  • Special nutrition for flowers is not needed, but will also not do any harm.
